Fatalii's Drum Slicer

Our free webapp takes the pain out of sample prep. Just drop in a single WAV file, and the Slicer prepares the files for the Pearl Mimic Pro Editor.

Community Drum Processing

Currently focusing on missing items like timbales, small toms, and other acoustic missing instruments from the factory library. If you record raw audio following our guide below, we can build the Mimic Pro instrument files for you! Contact us at drums@fatalii.net.

How to record samples for processing

Crucial Recording Settings:

All hits must be saved together as a single 24-bit, 44.1 kHz WAV file. Please ensure your recording environment is as quiet as possible to avoid capturing background noise in the sample tails.

For the best multi-velocity tracking, record using this method:

  1. 🔈
Start softly: Hit the drum 7 to 9 times. Leave about 2 seconds between hits to let the drum naturally ring out.
  2. 📶
Gradually increase: Record another 7 to 9 hits, increasing the intensity with each group.
  3. 🥁
Max out: Repeat stepping up the volume gradually until you reach your absolute loudest hits possible.
Pro Tip: We are aiming for 7-10 distinct velocity levels with 7-9 even hits in each group. If a hit fails or the volume is wrong, don't worry! You can easily discard those rogue hits inside the Fatalii's Drum Slicer app later.
